Privacy Policy

Your money data stays yours.

Daamly is a personal expense tracker. This policy explains, in plain words, what the app handles, where it is kept, who can see it and the choices you have. It is written to match what the current version of the app actually does.

Last updated: October 25, 2026 · Applies to the Daamly Android app (package com.huzaifa.expensetracker) and daamly.web.app.

01

At a glance

  • You can use Daamly without an account. Your entries are then stored only on your phone.
  • If you sign in, your data is backed up and synced with Google Firebase, under your private user ID. Only you can read it.
  • In a shared expense (a “Share”), the members of that Share see its expenses, payments and each other’s name, email and photo.
  • No advertising, no selling of data, and no analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs.
  • You can delete your account and its cloud data yourself, any time, in the app (Profile → Delete account).
02

Who we are

Daamly (“Daamly”, “we”, “us”) is an independent app. You can reach us at support.daamly@gmail.com.

03

Information the app handles

What you enter

  • Transactions: amount, type (expense, income or transfer), category, date and time, note, payment method, and the accounts used for transfers.
  • Your setup: categories, budgets (your monthly amount, payday, bills, daily split, category pots and savings goals), recurring entries, the bank accounts you add under “My bank accounts” (a name, the bank, and optionally the last 4 digits), currency, theme and reminder settings.
  • Photos you choose to attach: receipt photos taken with the camera or picked from your gallery, and an optional profile photo.

Account information (only if you sign in)

  • Sign-in uses Google Firebase Authentication, with your Google account or an email and password. We receive your name, email address, profile photo (if your Google account has one) and a unique user ID. Passwords are handled by Firebase and are never visible to us.
  • You can set a display name and profile photo in the app.

Guests

To use Shares without an account you can continue as a guest. Firebase then creates an anonymous ID, and the name you type is shown to the members of your Shares. A guest’s personal entries are not uploaded; they stay on the phone.

Shared expenses (“Shares”)

For each Share you create or join: the Share’s name, its members, the expenses and how they are split, payments between members, receipt photos added to shared expenses, an activity history, and the invite code if one is turned on.

04

How we use it

  • To show your transactions, budgets, charts and your monthly story cards.
  • If you sign in: to back up your data and keep it in sync on your devices.
  • For Shares: to show members the Share’s expenses, payments, balances and each other’s name, email and photo.
  • To show reminders and budget notifications you turn on, such as your morning budget, a low or over-budget alert, the end-of-day summary and the Sunday weekly recap. The app creates these on your phone from your own data.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or selling.

05

Permissions the app uses

  • Camera: to take receipt photos and to scan a Share’s invite QR code. Gallery photos are picked with Android’s photo picker, so Daamly sees only the photo you choose.
  • Notifications: to show reminders you turn on. Daamly asks for this permission; you can say no.
  • Internet: for sign-in, sync and Shares.

Daamly does not access your contacts, your location, your email or other apps’ notifications. We may add optional automatic import of bank transactions in future; if we do, it will be off until you turn it on, and we will update this policy first.

06

Where your data is stored

  • On your phone: everything is kept in the app’s private storage on your device. Android’s own device backup may include this app data, depending on your phone’s backup settings.
  • In Google Firebase (if you sign in, and for Shares): your data is stored in Cloud Firestore, and receipt and profile photos in Cloud Storage for Firebase. Firebase is provided by Google LLC, which processes the data on our behalf as a service provider and may store it in data centres outside your country. See Firebase’s privacy information.
  • Firebase encrypts data in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
07

Who can see your data

  • Your personal data (entries, categories, budgets, recurring entries, settings, receipt photos): only you. Our security rules allow only your signed-in account to read or change it, and we do not look at it.
  • Share data: only the members of that Share. Anyone with a Share’s current invite code can join it, so share codes only with people you trust. Members can turn the code off or make a new one.
  • Your profile: your name, email and profile photo are shown to the members of your Shares.
  • What you share yourself: for example a story card image, an invite link, or a reminder you send on WhatsApp or SMS.
  • Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

We do not sell, rent or trade your information.

08

What we don’t do

  • No ads and no advertising ID.
  • No third-party analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
  • No access to your contacts or location.

Like any online service, Google’s Firebase servers receive technical information such as your IP address when the app connects, in order to provide sign-in and sync.

09

How long we keep it

  • On your phone: until you delete it, sign out and choose “Remove from phone”, use Profile → “Remove data from this phone” (without an account), delete your account, clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app.
  • In the cloud: for as long as your account exists, so it can sync. Entries you delete in the app are removed from your cloud data on the next sync. When you remove a receipt photo, delete an entry that has photos, or use “Clear all transactions”, the photo files are deleted from cloud storage too, on the next sync if you are offline.
  • Shares: while the Share exists. Deleting a Share in the app removes its expenses, payments, activity and receipts.
  • When you delete your account: in the app, your account and cloud data are deleted straight away. If you ask us by email instead, we do it within 30 days. See the account deletion page.
10

Deleting your data

In the app, any time: edit or delete any transaction, category, budget, recurring entry or photo; use Profile → “Clear all transactions”; leave a Share; or sign out and choose “Remove from phone”.

Your whole account: open Profile → “Delete account”, type DELETE and confirm it’s you. Daamly then removes you from your Shares (a Share where you are the only member is deleted), deletes your receipt and profile photos from cloud storage, deletes your synced data and your sign-in account, and clears the app on your phone. If you no longer have the app, email us at support.daamly@gmail.com as described on our Delete your account page.

You can also email us for a copy of your data or to correct it. You can export your transactions to a CSV file yourself in Profile.

11

Waitlist

The Daamly waitlist on this website is now closed and no longer collects emails. If you joined it earlier, we store the email address (and first name, if you give one) you enter, the time you joined and which page or link brought you there, in Google Cloud Firestore. We use it only to tell you when Daamly launches; no newsletters, and we never share or sell it. To be removed, email support.daamly@gmail.com and we will delete it.

12

Children

Daamly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at support.daamly@gmail.com and we will delete it.

13

Security

We use Firebase Authentication, encrypted connections and access rules that limit your data to you and, for Shares, to that Share’s members. “Clear all transactions” and “Delete account” ask you to confirm before anything is deleted. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so please keep your phone and account protected.

14

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app.
